The usual propaganda stamps from the Franco’s era – annual Christmas stamp emphasizing tranditional catholic values. This time dedicated to the El Greco’s painting “The Holy Family with Saint Anne and Saint John“.
El Greco (1541-1614) produced this painting at about the year 1600. Original is held at the Museo del Prado in Madrid. IOt’s a middle-sized painting of 107 x 69 cm, oil on canvas.
This Christmas stamp with the nominal value of 80 cts. was issued in 5 million copies. Stanly Gibbons’ Western Europe Catalogue (2nd editon, 2012) assigns a catalogue value of 7 GBP to this stamp.
