Identification: Spain, 3 July 1952. Fourth Centenary of the Death of Saint Francis Xavier. 2 pesetas airmail; Edifil 1118; Used.

Technical: Recess printing (calcografía) by Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre; catalogue perforation 12¾ × 13¼; sheets of 100; reported print run 1,000,000. Perforation not independently measured.

Condition: Prominent cancellation crossing portrait and surrounding design, small surface marks and some irregular perforation edges. Large hinge remnant and adhesive residue near upper centre of reverse. No obvious major tears in scans. Below average condition for a premium collection.

History: Commemorates Francis Xavier (1506–1552), Jesuit missionary active in Asia and co-founder of the Society of Jesus.
